An Image Distortion Correction Method Based on Distortion Centre and Parameter Estimation

Abstract We propose a radial distortion correction method based on straight-line feature calibration to address the challenge of image radial distortion when measuring mechanical motion parameters using computer vision technology. This method first independently estimates the distortion center, and then transforms the distortion parameter estimation into an arc fitting problem. The least squares optimization algorithm is applied to quickly and accurately estimate the arc parameter of distorted lines, ultimately achieving precise correction of distortion in wide-angle camera images. This method can reduce lens distortion by 89% to 92%, laying a solid foundation for the application of computer vision technology in the field of mechanical motion parameter measurement.
