Method for Compositing Two Reaction-Diffusion-Pattern-Like Images Using Cross Inverse Filter
Non-photorealistic rendering method for automatically generating reaction-diffusion-pattern-like images from photographic images has been proposed by an iterative process using smoothing filter with the circular window and inverse filter. Reaction-diffusion patterns are similar to natural patterns such as zebra stripes and cheetah spots. We consider that if two reaction-diffusion-pattern-like images are composed, the composited reaction-diffusion-pattern-like image has visually interesting effect. At that time, the composed reaction-diffusion-pattern-like patterns must be generated by smoothly combining the two reaction-diffusion-pattern-like patterns. In this paper, we propose a method for generating the smoothly composed reaction-diffusion-pattern-like patterns using smoothing filter with the circular window and cross inverse filter. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed method, experiments were conducted to generate composited reaction-diffusion-pattern-like images from various photographic images.
