Research on Mathematical Modeling Method and Calculation Efficiency of Vehicle Impact Crashworthiness

The challenge of designing and optimizing vehicle structures is the high computational cost required for collision analysis. By conducting multi body system simulation modeling research on car collision accidents, a modeling method to improve computational efficiency has been determined, and a simplified numerical model for multi body systems has been established, which defines the deformation of the structural area that only bears elastic deformation during the collision process as described by the stiffness and load path parameters at the structural interface, achieving the goal of simplifying the finite element model of the entire vehicle. The results indicate that the collision analysis cost of the simplified model can be reduced by about 70% while ensuring accuracy. Finally, by studying the degree of model simplification for two classic operating conditions, the trend of the impact of model simplification on accuracy and calculation time was summarized.
