Study of Multibeam Line Measurement Problem Based on Depth Bug Algorithm

In this study, based on the needs of seabed survey, mathematical modeling and analysis were carried out for multibeam bathymetry technology. For different situations, we derived mathematical expressions for the coverage width and overlap rate and calculated the corresponding numerical results. Through mathematical analysis and optimization, we propose a method for designing efficient survey lines within the sea area to minimize the leakage rate and improve efficiency. Finally, we introduced the Depth Bug algorithm of the depth table and the optimal survey line calculation model, and successfully designed a survey line with the length of 127n miles with the leakage rate of only 0.95%, and the length of the part of the overlap rate of more than 20% of the length of 4.57n miles. These results provide important theoretical support and guidance for the practice in the field of marine surveying.
