Integrative analysis and verification of pressure vessels under multiple nozzle loads: a combined AD2000 and beam analysis approach

A novel methodology for global verification of pressure vessels, addressing multiple nozzle load effects, is introduced. The methodology integrates static and stability analysis for each vessel section, combining the AD2000 S3/0 guidance on nozzle loads with a proprietary beam analysis algorithm. The model discretizes the vessel into finite elements and is implemented in PHP. This approach allows for comprehensive verification of vessel sections, considering both transposed nozzle loads and global loads such as wind and seismic activity. The study highlights the impact of reference point selection on support load calculations, with a focus on the most advantageous locations versus the center of gravity for each component. Findings reveal significant discrepancies in load distribution between the AD2000 methodology and the proposed static theory-based algorithm, underscoring the need for further examination and clarification by standardization bodies.
