Tuning motion of linear and rotary axes at cutting approach point under a constant feed speed vector at endmilling point on machined workpiece with a five-axis controlled machine tool

Owing to the recent proliferation of five-axis machine tools, a method for preserving machined-surface quality during the creation of curved surfaces is necessitated. Applying anticipatory control changes the behavior of a machine tools and reduces machining shape errors. This study focuses on the corner allowable speed difference, which is type of anticipatory control, proposes a theoretical formula to obtain the optimum value of this parameter, and demonstrates its effectiveness. The feed rate of the tool is either increased or decreased to demonstrate its effectiveness. Additionally, we compare cases where the corner allowable speed difference is fixed with those where it is changed to the optimum value based on the tool feed rate. The roundness improves when the corner allowable speed difference is adjusted from less than the optimum value to the optimum value.
