Names for „illegitimate children”
Since ancient times there have been prejudices and stereotypes regarding the birth of a child out of wedlock. Morally, society does not approve of their conception or birth. To designate a child born out of wedlock, a multitude of creations were used, expressed by terms or circumlocutions (including popular expressions). The terms, used to label people, had, at first, the status of nicknames, then, being transmitted to subsequent generations, they became official surnames.
