Authentic Portfolio Reviews: Cultivating Professional Identities Through Storytelling
Storytelling is a key skill for technical communication and user experience students; however, storytelling is not typically explicitly taught in many programs and courses. In this experience report, we share details from a classroom activity that provides structure for teaching storytelling as part of a larger portfolio assignment to help prepare students for working within the industry. We first provide background on storytelling as a skill, provide the context for the two classes in which the activity was implemented, share reflections, and conclude with next steps and suggestions for further research.
