TRATAMENTO DE LESÕES CUTÂNEAS E AS POSSÍVEIS COMPLICAÇÕES

Abstract: Objective: To reveal the main challenges that nurses face in the treatment of skin lesions in a hospital environment. Method: MedLine, SciELO, BVS and Google Scholar databases were used. The following health descriptors (DECS) were used: Dermatopathies, Wounds and Injuries, Skin, Soft Tissue Injuries, Infectious Dermatopathies. Priority was given to articles published between 2019 and 2024. A total of 109 articles were found and of these, 18 were selected. Results and Discussions: Nurses should have knowledge about procedures for treating skin lesions, the outcome of untreated surgical wounds, symptoms of infected surgical wounds and possible bacterial and fungal infections. If a patient has better lifestyle habits and a healthy environment, without harmful habits to health, such as alcohol consumption, smoking, drugs, wound healing is faster. Nurses can minimize the risk of surgical wound infection by maintaining an aseptic environment during surgical procedures. The most important part of nursing intervention is knowledge about wounds. Conclusion: Effective treatment facilitates the prevention of hundreds of deaths and reduces costs in long-term treatments. Lack of knowledge and experience of nurses in wound care as well as infection can result in acute or chronic wounds that are untreatable and force the patient to live with lifelong suffering.
