Sașa Zare – gender emancipation. Metabolizations of the shame of being “wrong”
„Dezrădăcinare” by Sașa Zare illustrates a love imaginary of trauma. The character, a bisexual girl, feels her condition of being different in a distorted, culpable way and allows herself to be drawn into punitive, painful relationships. To treat her wounded self, Sașa turns to a psychotherapist and examines on his couch the nodal moments of her childhood, which may contain explanations, solutions and, finally, healings. Between Sașa and her mother there are psychological and moral cleavages created by the social context in which their generations were formed. This woman is the expression of sovietstyle educational ideologies, in which emotional intimacy was replaced by rhetoric. The adolescent’s recourse to the perspective of the past is accompanied by the self-confession, which searches in the depths of its memory for the winding paths of becoming. Confession in steps is a long therapy of the shame of feeling «wrong» in a world of distorted perception.
