Self-identification and identity validation in the travelogue "Literatur express. Europe from the wagon window" by Vasile Gârneț and Vitalie Ciobanu
"Express literature. Europe from the window of the wagon" by Vasile Gârneț and Vitalie Ciobanu is a travel diary, but also a diaristic experiment "in two voices" that reflects, fragmentarily, images of European civilization and, implicitly, the ideological and cultural differences and contrasts between the two parts of Europe: West and East. In this article, we aimed to analyze the key moments of this journey-experiment captured by the two writers participating in the "Literature Express Europe 2000" project, insisting on the idea of identity, diversity and cultural dialogue. We will also trace how the comparative exercises and tensions configured during the journey facilitate the process of self-identification and identity validation in relation to otherness.
