EFEITOS DE TREINAMENTO AERÓBICO SOBRE A COMPOSIÇÃO CORPORAL DE IDOSOS

The present study aims to investigate the effects of aerobic training on the body composition of elderly people, focusing on reducing body fat, maintaining lean mass and improving quality of life. The literature review was conducted based on a broad analysis of scientific articles and recent research on the impacts of aerobic training on the elderly. The results reveal that aerobic training promotes a significant reduction in visceral fat, which is one of the main risk factors for metabolic diseases such as diabetes and hypertension. Furthermore, aerobic training proved to be effective in preserving and even increasing muscle mass, a fundamental aspect in preventing sarcopenia, a common condition in aging. Another relevant point found in the studies was the contribution of training to improving the immune system. Regular practice also has a positive impact on the quality of life of the elderly, favoring emotional well-being, combating depression and promoting greater socialization and autonomy in daily activities. The study reinforces the importance of public policies that encourage the adoption of physical activities among the elderly population, aiming to promote more active and healthy aging.
