Legal Protection of Persons Reporting Corruption and Their Classification
Persons reporting corruption may play an important role in disclosing information that would otherwise go unnoticed. Such information can increase the effectiveness of the prevention, detection and investigation of corruption offenses. The article provides examples of measures to protect informants, classifying the following categories of such persons: notifiers with a corresponding fiduciary duty; informants being participants in criminal proceedings; voluntary whistleblowers in criminal proceedings; confidants; anonymous informants and persons reporting corruption at the workplace. A separate group consists of facilitators: those who help the informants in question and also have the right to protection.
