Radar Waveforms Based on Costas and Walsh-Hadamard Codes in Active Noise Jamming

The resilience of radar against active noise jamming techniques while maintaining the required probability of correct range estimation represents key factors for evaluating various radar waveforms. The given approach is carried out within electronics counter-countermeasures. This paper analyzes chosen combinations of frequency and phase intrapulse modulations and compares their performance under active noise jamming techniques while considering the required probability of correct range estimation. Based on the presented results, it is highly appropriate to use multiple frequency intrapulse modulations when active noise jamming techniques are present. To maintain the required probability of correct range estimation, a correlation receiver should be employed as well. Overall, using multiple-frequency intrapulse modulations (utilizing Costas codes) improved radar resilience against active noise jamming techniques.
