Droop Control with Incorporated Dead Zone for Indirect Energy Management in DC Nanogrids
This paper explores the application of DC droop control in residential nanogrid. The authors propose a novel approach for grid connected residential dc nanogrids that adjusts the droop curve of the active front-end converter instead of individual energy storage (ES) units. This method incorporates a dead zone within the droop curve to indirectly manipulate the state of charge (SoC) of ES units and enhance renewable energy self-consumption. The proposed ideas are verified via simulations based on a real dataset recorded in Estonia. The results indicate that adjusting the dead zone size can significantly improve renewables self-consumption but had only marginal effect on the SoC.
