Optimal multi-fault tolerant control for PMSMs – Part II: Feedback control

In this publication series, consisting of two parts, a generalized optimal fault tolerant control system for Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machines (PMSM) is derived. The basis is the Subdomain Model, employing Maxwell equations for calculating the magnetic flux distribution with high accuracy. Because of this detailed physical description, the developed control system can be adapted in an efficient way to motor-intrinsic electrical and magnetic faults. Since these faults can be handled also when occurring in combination the presented control system is multi-fault tolerant. In part I a feedforward control was developed which predicts the optimal currents and voltages for a constant torque in steady state case. In this part II the control system is completed by a feedback control to deal with transients and compensate all kind of disturbances. In representative dynamic simulations considering several errors and measurement noise it can be shown that all considered fault cases can be fully compensated.
