Sensitivity Enhancement of a Non-Invasive Shielding Effectiveness Measurement Method in Reverberation Chambers

A recently published paper has introduced a shielding effectiveness (SE) measurement principle for which it is not necessary to place an internal sensor in the enclosure under test (EUT). This high-frequency technique takes advantage of the fundamental properties of a reverberation chamber (RC) and relies on the accurate estimation of its composite Q-factor for different test configurations. The technique uses an absorbing material placed successively in the RC, outside and inside the EUT. For an empty RC and each of these two configurations, the corresponding Q-factor is estimated, using an appropriate number of realizations of the RC. These successive estimates are used to recover the SE of the EUT. In this paper, we demonstrate experimentally that increasing the number of identical EUTs improves the sensitivity of the measurement, as theoretically claimed in the aforementioned publication.
