Analysis of common mode noise coupling channel Between Vehicle Assembly and Ground Assembly in electric vehicle Wireless Power Transfer (WPT)

In contrast to conventional wired charging applications, Wireless Power Transfer (WPT) systems for electric vehicles consist of two primary components: the Ground Assembly (GA) and the Vehicle Assembly (VA). These components are not physically connected by cables. However, from an Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) perspective, the GA and VA exhibit not only a wireless power transfer link but also a wireless Common Mode (CM) noise coupling channel. This channel allows noise to propagate between the GA and VA, impacting their Conducted Emissions (CE) performance. In this paper, this wireless coupling channel responsible for common mode noise is analyzed and the behavior of this channel is simulated. This simulation model is validated by comparing simulation results with both actual measurements and an analytic approach. Additionally, the influence of mains cable length on CM noise, which is transmitted through the ground floor of an Absorber-Lined Shielded Enclosure (ALSE), is investigated.
