Passive and Active Cancellation Loops for Magnetic Field Mitigation in SAE J2954 WPT Systems
Wireless power transfer (WPT) systems are an attractive solution for recharging the battery of electric vehicles (EVs) because they improve safety and comfort. However, these systems generate high level magnetic fields that may interfere with nearby electronic devices and pose safety concerns for exposed people. In this research, the two most popular methods for mitigating the magnetic field in automotive WPT systems are compared: passive cancellation loops and active cancellation loops. The performance and practical factors of each technique are evaluated through theoretical analysis and simulations. The results numerically obtained provide insights into the effectiveness and suitability of these approaches in real-world applications.
