Protection distances between HF-communication systems and wireless charging of vehicles
Wireless charging of electrical vehicles use induction for the energy transfer between the charger and vehicle. It does not require direct contact as conductive charging does. A drawback of wireless charging is the radiated emissions that affects radio communication systems in the vicinity. This paper presents protection distances between systems for wireless charging of vehicles and radio receivers in the high frequency (HF) band. The protection distances are based on measurements of radiated emissions from a wireless charging station. Since the calculated protection distances show a large variation, a statistical description of the distances is also presented. It is not straightforward to give a general recommendation for protection distances in the HF band and for security reasons it can be argued that the maximum distances should be used. However, this might be unnecessary strict and an alternative way is to include the protection distances in a risk analysis.
