Effect Analysis of the Ranging Function of FMCW Radar Excited by Electromagnetic Interference
When the frequency modulated continuous wave (FMCW) radar is illuminated by electromagnetic interference, the interference signal is generated through the antenna coupling. The combination of the interference signal and the echo signal might result in errors in the ranging function. In this article, the effect analysis of the ranging function of FMCW radar excited by electromagnetic interference is carried out. The analysis consists of three parts. Firstly, the simulation is able to calculate the interference signal that enters the FMCW radar. Secondly, the analysis is able to derive the time-frequency plot of the interference signal after mixing, based on the principle of ranging. And it can be analyzed that the interference signal would be filtered by the low pass filter after mixing and would not affect the ranging function. Thirdly, the effect test can simulate the real situation of the radar excited by electromagnetic interference. The test results verify the effect analysis.
