Towards a Framework for Personal and Domestic Cybersecurity

The expansion of the digital world increasingly en-velops us, making our lives easier and more connected. However, this also entails a series of risks and threats that we assume, some-times for productivity or convenience, whether consciously or unconsciously. These cybersecurity risks, which affect practically all areas of society, have been primarily analyzed and addressed in governmental sectors and the business realm. Nonetheless, comprehensive studies and even more so, integrated solutions for the personal and domestic sphere, where cybersecurity risks have a broad scope-from the physical safety of individuals to privacy breaches, access to personal data for criminal purposes, and many other situations that can severely impact individuals in their personal and domestic environment-have not been undertaken. This article reviews the literature to identify and compare the main cybersecurity solutions for personal and domestic environments, considering the challenges or criteria these solutions should meet. Upon comparing these proposals, we conclude that there is a lack of solutions that help protect citizens from cybersecurity attacks in domestic settings, considering factors such as age, types of technology, potential dependencies, etc. Therefore, we present the architecture of a cybersecurity framework for personal and domestic environments, which we will develop in near future work.
