MODALF NG: a new simulator to overcome the growing challenges of railway lines modelling
Modelling and simulation of railway traction circuit is mandatory to predict and assess current and voltage levels in each railway conductor, which helps to protect nearby installations and humans from unwanted electric effects of traction circuit. To do so, the development of simulation software that complies with railway requirements is necessary. In this work, we describe how SNCF designed and built its own simulation tools using new solvers capable of efficiently simulating high-density traffic and the behavior of non-linear components that are increasingly introduced to the electric traction system.
