Practical Considerations for Converting a Shielded Enclosure into a Reverberation Chamber

The aim of this paper is to provide useful knowhow for the EMC engineering community to accomplish a successful establishment of a reverberation chamber (RC). To this end, the effect of the presence of different types of foreign objects on the field uniformity (FU) of an RC converted from a shielded chamber (SC) was investigated by means of simulations and validated by measurements. Furthermore, additional practical remarks were given in the context of measurement setup construction.

Abstract

The aim of this paper is to provide useful knowhow for the EMC engineering community to accomplish a successful establishment of a reverberation chamber (RC). To this end, the effect of the presence of different types of foreign objects on the field uniformity (FU) of an RC converted from a shielded chamber (SC) was investigated by means of simulations and validated by measurements. Furthermore, additional practical remarks were given in the context of measurement setup construction.
