The Optimization Strategy of Pump-Valve Combined Scheduling and Pump Unit Reselection in Heating Systems
Abstract This research successfully implemented time and spatial division control for residential heating through theoretical analysis and optimization, with the goal of meeting occupants’ comfort requirements and achieving energy savings and emissions reduction. Firstly, the investigation calculated the optimal heating capacity for different functional areas within the buildings at various times. Secondly, by considering the heat transfer characteristics of the heating system, as well as pipe and valve resistance properties, and the performance of the centrifugal pump, the research established a system heat balance equation and a combined system hydraulic balance equation incorporating frequency conversion and valve adjustment to meet precise heating demands. Finally, the investigation reselected the pump based on the actual flow rate and head of the pump station unit. The heating optimization calculations were applied to a residential building in Zhengzhou, revealing that the combined optimization of frequency conversion and valve adjustment, along with the optimized selection of pump station units, resulted in energy consumption savings of 38% and 33% reduction in heating output compared to the original design. The overall operating costs were correspondingly reduced by 32%. Thus, this research suggests that optimizing the heating system through the joint adjustment of pumps and valves can achieve energy efficiency while delivering precise heating to fulfill occupants’ comfort requirements.
