Sightlessness and Knowledge in Jorge Luis Borges
The article discusses Jorge Luis Borges’s literature and life, the epistemic contributions to disability culture and archives. His sightless knowledge is influenced by family, education, and geopolitical background. It converges disability, heritage, postcoloniality, and imagination, illustrating new ways to think of diversity, blindness, and non-ableist ways of inhabiting our world(s). Borges’s work allows us to contest the invisibilized past of disability, highlighting the role that sightlessness has in influencing our culture and history.
