An IoT-Driven Solution for Automated Bus Schedule Management
Storing bus in and out time data in schools or colleges is an important aspect of managing transportation systems efficiently and ensuring the safety of students. This data helps administrators, parents, and transportation staff to keep track of bus schedules, monitor student attendance, and ensure timely arrivals and departures. Currently, manual work is required to collect this data. To address this, an IoT device is proposed that can overcome the drawbacks of manual data collection. The device is a camera-based system that automatically records the date and time of the vehicle’s entry and exit from the entrance. It works on the basis of matrix form, where the vehicle’s name, number plate, and any other external details are encoded in a QR code. The camera module scans the QR code and records the arrival time of vehicles as they approach or depart. Additionally, the system will also track student attendance while they are taking the bus through an RFID tag placed in their ID card. An RFID reader will read the tags and log the attendance data, integrating it with the transportation records to provide a comprehensive view of both bus schedules and student attendance. Simultaneously, the data is pushed to the cloud and recorded in an Excel spreadsheet.
