Acquisition and Evaluation of Brain waves using EEG during Push-Pull Effects on Tilt-Table Procedures
The Push-Pull Effect (PPE) is a phenomenon that has significant attention and concern within the aerospace industry. This article focuses on the two of its main objectives which is to analyze brain activity during gravity and uncover the push-pull effect during acceleration that has a significant systemic role in acceleration protection studies notably G-LOC (Loss of Consciousness). Several methods based on physical principles have been developed to measure brainwave activity and reflect changes in position during tilt table testing. This study was designed to investigate the effects of gravity (-Gz and +Gz) on human brain activation during push-pull maneuvers, the subject is lying (back facing the tilt table) and ten healthy volunteers ranging $25 \pm 5$ years (back facing the tilt table) were enrolled in this study. EEG (Electroencephalogram) recording was made during a sequence of movements- baseline, head-down and head-up. Analysis involved examining brainwaves and their feature extraction, frequency domain analysis of PSD in all three cases. We analyzed that the voltage amplitudes of the beta and gamma band of brain waves are dominant in head down (-Gz) during the analysis from EEG signal. The EEG signal is collected and filtered using MATLAB software and BIOSPPY toolbox.
