Design and Implementation of an Off Board Battery Charger for Electric Vehicles using Optimal Controller

Reliable charging stations are essential to maximize the use of electric vehicles (EVs). However, current charging systems have some drawbacks, such as excessive resource consumption and inefficiency. To address these issues, this study aims to design and develop an off-board battery charger for EVs using the new Zeta-Flyback converter. The goal is to create solutions that improve efficiency, reduce resource consumption, and increase productivity. Meeting the evolving needs of the electric vehicle market is a major challenge, and it is necessary to overcome the limitations of conventional charger designs. The proposed method exploits the unique characteristics of the ZetaFlyback converter, combining the advantages of Flyback and Zeta topologies. As a result, the charger achieves efficient power transfer with fewer switching losses and improved transient response. Finally, this paper provides a comprehensive solution to the challenges of charging battery-powered EVs, contributing to the advancement of power electronics in the automotive industry.
