Security and Efficiency in Tap and Pay: The Promise and Challenges of BLE and UWB Integration
The rapid advancement of contactless payment technology has opened up opportunities for inventive solutions in the financial industry, namely in Tap and Pay systems. This study explores the combination of Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and UltraWideband (UWB) technologies in current payment systems. It examines their potential to transform the Tap and Pay experience, while also considering the significant security and efficiency obstacles that need to be overcome. BLE and UWB are becoming crucial technologies in the field of contactless payments, offering increased precision, reduced energy usage, and enhanced user experiences. Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), with its capacity to establish secure and energy efficient connections, and UltraWideband (UWB), recognized for its accuracy in measuring distances and spatial awareness, collectively provide a powerful substitute for conventional Near Field Communication (NFC) technology. research investigates how the combination of these technologies can improve the strength, efficiency, and flexibility of Tap and Pay systems. Nevertheless, the incorporation of Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and UltraWideband (UWB) technologies into payment systems has several challenges. The introduction of these technologies brings about new opportunities for potential assaults, such as relay attacks and spoofing, making security a top priority. We analyze the security protocols and encryption technologies required to protect transactions and uphold user confidence. Moreover, the effectiveness of these systems is examined in relation to their operational dependability, response time, and power usage. The study examines the technological difficulties and constraints of existing BLE and UWB implementations, as well as the necessity for advanced algorithms to handle the compromises between security, speed, and energy efficiency.
