A Unipolar Boosting Solid State Marx Generator

In this paper, a unipolar boost solid state Marx generator topology with adjustable frequency, pulse width and amplitude is proposed, which is applied in the field of electroporation. This topology improves the voltage gain, reduces the number of modules and device loss, and applies soft switching technology to further reduce the switching loss of switches. By comparing this with other structures, it is found that this topology has obvious advantages in voltage gain and the number of modules. Then, the simulation circuit is built in PSIM. Furthermore, a prototype with output voltage of 120V, pulse repetition frequency of 50kHz, leading edge of 10ns-12ns and width of 2.3µs~2.5µs is built. The experimental results are in agreement with simulation and theoretical analysis, which verifies feasibility and effectiveness of the topology and correctness of theoretical analysis.
