Design and Implementation of an IoT-Enabled Vehicular Accident Detection and Notification System
This paper addresses the need for an efficient and timely method to detect vehicular accidents and inform emergency services. Traditional accident detection methods often suffer from limitations such as delayed response times and inaccurate detection, which can hinder emergency response efforts. The integration of IoT technology presents a promising alternative to overcome these challenges. The proposed system leverages IoT devices and internet connectivity, utilizing various sensors, including a tilt degree sensor, to detect vehicular accidents. Upon detection, the system automatically sends a notification to emergency services. The design and implementation of the sensor system, along with its integration with the overall accident detection mechanism, are thoroughly discussed. The system was tested under various scenarios and its performance was compared with traditional accident detection methods. The studies demonstrated that the proposed IoT-based system offers several advantages, including improved accuracy, reduced response time, and enhanced safety. It was found to be more efficient and exhibited high detection performance compared to conventional systems. The findings suggest that IoT devices and internet connectivity offer a viable alternative to traditional vehicular accident detection methods. The proposed system has the potential to revolutionize the detection process, thereby enhancing overall efficiency and effectiveness. The paper concludes by highlighting future research directions, including the development of more sophisticated sensors and the integration of this system with other smart vehicle technologies
