Design and Analysis of Rectangular Microcantilever based Sensor with Stress Concentration Region for Biomolecule Detection
Many life-threatening diseases are diagnosed at advanced, critical stages due to clinical limitations. Early detection through monitoring patient health metrics and identifying disease-causing antigens and their concentrations is crucial for timely medical intervention. To address this, highly sensitive and reliable methods for antigen detection are needed. Biosensors offer a promising solution for accurately classifying and detecting biomolecules. The emergence of new viruses and disease causing antigens highlights the importance of active healthcare measures. High-performance biosensors and its signal conditioning circuits are important for safeguarding human health. This paper focuses on a MEMS-based microcantilever biosensor, its transduction principle for biomolecule detection, simulation of rectangular microcantilever for biomolecule equivalent of 19 Pascal. It has been identified by introducing stress concentration region (SCR), the sensitivity of the sensor is increased and it has maximum displacement in trapezoidal SCR in the rectangular microcantilever and shows 40% improvement than the conventional rectangular microcantilever.
