AURICULOPLASTIA EM EQUINOS COM TELA DE POLIPROPILENO: relato de caso de uma égua com 6 anos de idade, SRD, 310 kg, alazã, no município de Presidente Olegário - MG
Given the results of various conditions affecting auricular cartilage, one of which is external ear deformities in equines, these issues can cause significant health, aesthetic, and functional impairments, often resulting from trauma or ectoparasites. To date, few surgical techniques with proven efficacy have been described to address this problem. The objective of this article is to report the case of a 6-year-old, mixed-breed, 310 kg chestnut mare with a drooping left ear. Auriculoplasty was performed using a polypropylene mesh implant in the external ear cartilage as a reconstructive method for auricular deformities in equines. It was concluded that the technique was not effective, as the equine developed fibrous tissue in the conchal cavity of the scapha, leading to an unsatisfactory aesthetic and functional outcome.
