Lobular panniculitis of the lower legs in a patient with eosinophilic gastrointestinal disease: a case report of scurvy
Eosinophilic gastrointestinal disease (EGID) is a chronic condition that is commonly treated with restrictive food elimination diets and may be complicated by food aversion. Here, we present a patient with recalcitrant EGID with lobular panniculitis of the lower legs secondary to scurvy. Cutaneous eruptions are the first manifestations of scurvy, and thus a high suspicion for panniculitis in the context of food restriction is critical to prevent further complications and mortality.
