Case Study of Application Scenario of Electrical Complex VSC-MTDC in the Syrian Arab Republic

For a number of reasons, electrical complexes of a multi-terminal direct current transmission system (MTDC) based on a voltage source converter (VSC) have attracted much attention from the academic and industrial communities. Currently, developments are underway to create such electrical complexes: the JO-SY-TR project, DESERTEC, GOBITEC, etc. Despite the obvious advantages of using VSC - MTDC, their large-scale implementation requires solving a number of research and operational problems. This article is focused on studying the control aspect of a VSC - MTDC electrical complex consisting of four terminals (Syria, Lebanon, Jordan and Turkey) connected to the DESERTEC ±500 kV DC system, in order to implement and test various objective functions. Testing operations were performed using the MATLAB/Simulink software package.
