Research on Improving the Quality of Induction Units Using Multi-Pulse ATRU

The article discusses the features of operation of induction units (IU) in industry for heat treatment of metal parts, the main connection schemes of such units, analyzes known difficulties arising during operation of the described complexes, including the negative inverse effect of distribution and consumption of electromagnetic interferences and currents of higher harmonics in the power supply, load and other consumers. The main methods of eliminating the effect of higher harmonics of currents for IU are analyzed. A power supply circuit for induction heating (IH) units based on a multi-pulse (using the example of an 18-pulse) autotransformer-rectifier unit (ATRU) is proposed and its computer simulation is performed in the Matlab software package with an analysis of processes. The total harmonic distortion of input current of such a power supply are calculated in comparison with typical 6-pulse transformer-rectifier unit (TRU). Graphs of electromagnetic processes were obtained and analyzed during the simulation of various inverter circuits in induction heating units (IHU).
