A Note on the Use of Hybrid Numerical Method Approach in Dosimetry for Exposure to mmWaves
The paper deals with the assessment of the absorbed power denisty (APD) in a spherical head model using FEKO simulation tool and the Gauss-Legendre quadrature. A hybrid approach featuring the use of Method of Moments (MoM) and Finite Element Method (FEM) with a Multi-Level Fast Multiple Method (MLFMM) to accelerate the computation, has been chosen to compare with the related results in literature obtained using other numerical approaches. Here the numerical results are obtained using some modifications of the spherical head model, such as hemisphere and hemispherical shell, within the limited computational capabilities, giving the distributions of electric and magnetic fields and the APD calculated on the control surface. The discrepancies with the reported results obtained with other simulation tools (CST, HFSS) have been studied.
