An Envelope-Detectable Single-Sideband Receiver for Non-Coherent Dielectric Waveguide Communication in 22-nm FDSOI
This paper presents a non-coherent receiver design for dielectric waveguide communication. Envelope-detectable single-sideband modulation is employed to improve the spectral efficiency and avoid carrier recovery. Data rates up to $36 \mathrm{~Gb} / \mathrm{s}$ are shown over a $1-\mathrm{m}$ fiber and up to $32 \mathrm{~Gb} / \mathrm{s}$ is still obtained at 5 m. These high symbol rates are achieved without any equalization.
