TENSER: an IoT-based solution for remote capture and monitoring of environmental variables for decision making in crops

In order to make available to the agricultural sector a solution to monitoring, capturing and visualizing climate data we propose the TENSER solution, based on a WSN consisting of a central module and satellite modules capable of measuring ambient temperature, relative humidity, atmospheric pressure and soil moisture. The logs are transmitted from the satellite modules to the central module through a Lora SX1276 connection and this in turn transmits them through the MQTT protocol to the Amazon Web Service (AWS) cloud IoT services through WPA2, WPA3 Enterprise WiFi networks or by connection to 3G, 4G or 5G mobile operators. For validation of the consistency of the data recorded by TENSER, field tests were carried out in field conditions with temperature and relative humidity data by contrasting with the use of a calibrated reference equipment, for which paired measurements were taken with both equipment, which allowed to detect deviations in the mentioned variables for which correction algorithms were adjusted that were incorporated into TENSER achieving the control of variability at the accepted levels of accuracy allowed by installed sensors. It is concluded that TENSER is a versatile, scalable, autonomous device configurable to different farm sizes and crops that allows the monitoring, recording and management of climate data with high precision and user friendly.
