Research on the Impact of Shipboard Microgrids Integrating Renewable Energy on Coastal Areas of Vietnam

Green energy has recently received substantial attention and research in the maritime industry. Therefore, a new trend is integrating renewable energy sources (RESs) into the Shipboard Microgrid (SMG), which is increasingly applied. Some advantages include supporting the capacity of hotel loads and non-critical loads at peak hours. In addition, these energy sources are abundant, clean and renewable. However, these energy sources are affected by natural conditions, which will cause a decrease in power generation capacity. This paper presents constructing an SMG model with solar energy and fuel cells. At the same time, the impact of natural conditions on the SMG and their potential in the future should be analysed.
