Development of Methods and Conceptual Design Tools for Simulation of Trigeneration Systems on the Basis of Gas Turbine Engine
Faster growth in consumption and limited sources of energy generation are two major challenges for sustainable energy systems in today's world. These issues have generated widespread interest in the study and development of new modern energy generation technologies. One of the most common technologies is a combined trigeneration system that simultaneously produces electricity, heat and cold. In trigeneration systems, gas piston or gas turbine engines are often used to generate electricity, and waste gases are used in the recovery cycle for heating with heat exchanger and cooling with thermally active equipment. Because of the simultaneous production of electricity, cooling and thermal energy from a single energy source, trigeneration systems can achieve higher fuel efficiency than conventional heat and power systems. In addition, since energy is generated near end users, trigeneration systems can improve the energy reliability of socially significant facilities for the population. The aim of the study is to increase the efficiency of trigeneration systems created on the basis of a gas turbine engine by developing methods and means for the modelling and design thereof. In this work CAE-system of conceptual modeling for the simulation of systems of trigeneration was developed and approbation of the developed CAE-system was done in the example of calculation of trigeneration installation on the basis of gas turbine engine.
