STEM Vocations for Industry 4.0
Overcoming myths and barriers in STEM disciplines requires educational interventions at an early age to bring children and young people closer to the careers of the future for Industry 4.0. For this reason, making university immersion visits for eleventh-grade students is a way to bring them closer to the university in an experiential way so that they can have more information that will allow them to decide about the career to choose. In this project, five workshops and two lectures are developed by the different schools of the Faculty of Engineering, Design and Innovation (FIDI) of the Politécnico Grancolombiano, in a visit of 128 eleventh-grade students at a district school in Bogotá and then a questionnaire is applied to know the perception of students and preferences in the choice of Engineering, Basic Sciences or Design careers. The results show that 56% of the participants in the study have some preference for the academic programs oriented to Industry 4.0 of the FIDI Faculty of the Politécnico Grancolombiano, evidencing the generation of STEM competencies in students who are about to finish their high school education
