Current Trends in Modernization of Stator Design of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors

In today's world, when permanent magnet synchronous motors are becoming more and more popular, the issue of optimizing their design becomes especially important. Such motors have a number of advantages over induction motors, but their main disadvantage is their high cost. The purpose of this paper is to study the current trends in modernization of motor design and to develop a method of multicriteria topological optimization of the stator design of a permanent magnet synchronous motor using a genetic algorithm. Applying a genetic algorithm to optimize the design improves the accuracy of the calculations compared to alternative methods such as simple brute force and is less time consuming than traditional finite element approaches. A key aspect of the optimization is to reduce the amount of materials used in the production of the engine without sacrificing power.
