Model of a Single-Zone Forging Induction Heater for Steel Cylindrical Workpieces

This article provides an overview of the numerical model of a single-zone forging induction heater for steel cylindrical workpieces. The calculation of the temperature distribution along the length of the “train” of workpieces is carried out taking into account changes in the electrical and magnetic properties of workpieces during induction heating. The change in the properties of the workpieces during the heating process is presented in the form of an iterative cycle that corrects the parameters of the workpieces at each calculation step. The implementation of this calculation method is presented in the form of a block diagram of the model. Based on the obtained graphs of changes in the heat dissipation power in the workpieces in the starting mode and the pattern of distribution of thermal and magnetic fields along the length of the “train” of workpieces, it can be concluded that the use of this iterative cycle allows to increase the accuracy of determining the parameters of the inductor.
