Proposal for an Interoperability Model for Clinical Information Systems

This article proposes an interoperability model for clinical information systems. To achieve this objective and assess its impact, we employed documentary analysis of various sources and direct experimental observation. The interoperability model proposed in this article will allow the secure exchange of data and information, generating impact in both the public and private sectors. In addition, the framework meets the requirements demanded by the different regulations and standards established by the national government to achieve interoperability between various clinical information systems and its network of health service providers in the country. In this way, the proposal contributes to government’s definitive objective to provide users with improved care continuity, with greater quality and safety, and a better experience and mobility in the health and social protection system.
