Investigation of the Asymmetry of the Magnetic System of the Traction Switched Reluctance Motor of an Electric Train

The use of a switched reluctance motor as a traction motor for high-speed electric train will improve the competitiveness of railway transport. When manufacturing a switched reluctance motor, it is quite difficult to achieve a uniform gap of a minimum value. The presence of an asymmetric air gap determines the conditions of one-way magnetic attraction forces. Bearings which are subjected to increased wear and tear are the place of application of forces. Cases of asymmetry of the magnetic system of a switched reluctance motor during dynamic rotor displacement are considered. Force studies under such displacement were carried out using the finite element method of the FEMM program. In advance, by means of the software complex MATLAB (SIMULINK), motor mode operating currents are determined. The analysis of the obtained results of the calculation of the forces of one-way magnetic attraction is conducted. In order to reduce or limit these forces to a certain acceptable level, a number of recommendations are given in the work. Measures are presented to increase the service life of a switched reluctance motor. They are carried out at stages of the life cycle of an electric machine, taking into account the presence of unevenness in the magnetic system.
