Application Development in AutoCAD Environment for Modeling 3D Printed Souvenirs Targeting STEAM Education
This paper presents a new software module for creating 3D-printed rings. The program operates within the AutoCAD environment and automatically generates 3D objects based on user-input information via dialog boxes. There are two execution modes provided: in the first mode, models are created from predefined blocks that are combined with different sizes and types of ring bands; in the second mode, the program operates step-by-step, demonstrating and describing the logic and sequence of creating the 3D objects. The program is suitable for use in any classroom even in art-oriented schools as well as for programming training in a CAD environment. By facilitating more efficient and enjoyable lessons, the “Rings” program could improve students and teachers wellbeing in class. The program has generated numerous models, divided into three groups based on their complexity. Experiments were conducted that involved printing the models and classifying them according to various criteria. The results of the experiment are used to refine the created program. The benefits and applications of the program in STEAM classrooms are discussed.
