A High Performance Stacked Dielectric Resonator Antenna for 5G Mobile Network

This research paper focuses on the design of the stacked dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) with a wideband characteristic's antenna at 3.5 GHz. Fifth generation (5G) mobile antenna technology needs a high gain and huge bandwidth properties with 5 dB gain and 1 GHz bandwidth characteristics respectively. Therefore, a tacked DRA technique with different <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\epsilon$</tex> is proposed to achieve wideband. The stacked DRA is implemented with U-shape air filled along with stacked elements DRA with different dielectric properties. This technique leads to higher bandwidth and increases the gain of the antenna. The stacked DRA is simulated with HSFF software, and the analysis has been performed accordingly. The FR4 substrate with thickness of 1.6 mm and permittivity of 4.4 has been chosen in the simulation analysis. The stacked antenna has fractional bandwidth of more than 1 GHz. The performance of the antenna achieved the basis of the required bandwidth and gain which could be used in future 5G mobile applications.
