Modelling and Control of a Photovoltaic-powered Fast Charging System for Electric Vehicles

The rapid development of renewable energy since the beginning of the 21st century is driven by the need to combat climate change and reduce dependence on fossil fuels. This collaborative project presents a comprehensive investigation through numerical modelling and simulation analysis using a design tool for a two-phase grid-connected electric power system that also provides power for fast charging of electric vehicles. Power conversion is performed using the MPPT algorithm for the output speed and a PI controller-controlled calculation method for the IGBT converter firing pulses to achieve this goal. In addition, the LCL filter is designed to reduce harmonics caused by the three-phase inverter adjusted by SPWM using the calculation method by IEEE 519. Tocontrol the voltage and current supplied by the grid-connected inverter, cascade vector control measures are applied using the Clark and Park transform and statistical analysis of the system performance. The results were positive: two studies conductedon different types of systems showed automatic changes in the system. The results were positive: two studies conducted on different types of systems showed automatic changes in the system. The LCL filter design eliminates many connections and stays within limits ARCONEL 003/18 allows. This study demonstrates the feasibility of using renewable energy in high-demand cities by providing a sustainable and efficient energy conversion solution.
